The HerptileId app was developed in partnership with the Amphibian and Reptile Conservation trust (ARC), the leading British charity committed to conserving amphibians and reptiles and saving the disappearing habitats on which they depend.

Users can keep a log of reptile and amphibian sightings using the app and take a photograph too. Reptile and amphibian sightings provide important conservation information and this can be sent in real time to the ARG-UK Record Pool database automatically from the app. This information will be used to help conservation of our native species.

Reptile and amphibian detail can be accessed from an easy to use list, or the identification forms can be used. For identification the app asks a short series of questions about the species. Ecological, conservation, distribution and taxonomy details are presented for all species.

Ecological information included in the current release:
Summary, Habitat, Mating Season, Ecology, Conservation, IUCN Red List, Population, Protection.

Taxonomy information included in this release:
Family, Genus, Native Species, Introduced Species, Common Names, Notes, Status, Distribution, Main Group, Sub Group.
