Field Guide Mobile (FGM) is the brand name we use for our set of smartphone and tablet apps. These apps are field guides to wildlife and are available in several european countries and languages. The FGM application framework is entirely data driven, so the programming code is the same for all guides, which makes development of new apps much easier.
The FGM framework is available as a static library allowing third party developers to create their own apps on the solid foundation we have built. To find out more about using our library please email us at:
FGM apps have geotagging of user sightings built into the core of the framework.
This allows a user to record a sighting and add a photo, the sighting then appears on a map in the app. Users can choose to share this information with other users.
A unique and popular feature of FGM applications is their use of the KUSAM identification system, a method designed to make ecological identification easier for the non-specialist. Unlike traditional field guides that use decision trees and objective, qualitative attribute selection, the KUSAM method allows subjective selection of quantitative attribute data.
